Website Designer In San Antonio
Our Website Designer in San Antonio Texas always stays constantly
educated in web design and up to date in the work of Website Development and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). It is important
for me and anyone that does Custom Websites for Business to stay informed of the updates with the search engines
algorithms and how these changes relate to Website Development. This blog post is the second post using the new
book "How to get on the first page of Google, the beginners guide" by Shawn Ward. I have found this book to have good information explained in
a simple manner. I spoke with Shawn and told him I was going to share the info in his book by writing blogs. He agreed, so here we go.
The idea for Page Rank
Just how does Google decide which websites to rank high in the Search Engine Result Page (SERP)? Googles early ranking algorithm stemmed from Albert Einstein, thats right Einstein.
If you young kids do not know who this is, he was a super genius from the 20th century. Einstein fled Nazi Germany and came to the United
States where he from Princeton University kept the world in awe of his genius. One of his most famous papers was his "Theory of Relativity".
This theory concerned the fundamental relationship between mass and energy, concepts viewed previously as completely separate. Einstein’s famous
equation E = mc2 (where “c” was the constant speed of light) expressed this relationship. Now that the young kids are all saying "Oh, now
I know who this dude is" I can continue.
Larry Page and Sergei Brin were students at Stanford University. They discovered that scientists would write a theory/paper and reference another theory/paper, these references acted almost like a vote. The more your work was referenced by other scientists like Albert Einstein was referenced, the more important it must be. Larry and Sergei realized that if they downloaded every scientific theory/paper and looked at the references each theory/paper had to other scientific theory/papers, they could "theoretically" decide which theory/papers were the most important and rank them from most to least important. Basically when scientists read a theory/paper written by Albert Einstein, they were amazed at his genius and became inspired to write their own theory/paper and reference Albert Einstein which made him the most famous and in this case ranked the greatest genius. Larry and Sergei decided that this is how websites should be ranked, by the references of importance other websites have for a website.
Back Links
So how does Albert Einstein relate to website ranking? Google
ranks websites by the number of incoming links to a site from other websites. The quality of these links are also very important and
may be more important than the number of links to your site. So how do you get these links? and how do you get Quality Links? The
first thing is to make sure your content is Relevant and Unique. Unique simply means do not copy someone else's work! If you are
using someone else's work (as I am doing in this blog), make sure you reference the work you are using and give credit where credit is due.
If you use someone else's work as if it were your own work this is called "Plagiarizing" and is actually illegal. You will not go to
jail for it, but you will get sued. In this case, if you plagiarize content, Google WILL FIND OUT! Google will penalize you by
lowering your website rank or banning you completely from the S.E.R.P..
Relevant Content
What is Relevant Content? Relevant content is what your website presents, is it useful? Is it meaningful?
Will the reader enjoy reading it and be able to put it to good use? This is Relevant and Unique content and google likes this.
If your website is just stuffing key words and phrases into a page with no real relevant content to get the search engines attention, you will
get their attention, you will be banned. I fired an SEO specialist because he tried to write for me a blog that was just key words
with no actual subject. He was not happy that this little black hat trick of his got him fired.
To sum it up, if you want lots of visitors to your website and quality back links, be creative. Write original content and if you get your
idea from another source, as I have done in this blog, reference your source and don't copy and paste. You will receive increased traffic
and quality back links which will cause Google see your website as "Relevant, Quality, Original and increase your website ranking. I
hope this helps. If you feel that you would like to use our company to increase your website ranking with quality Search Engine Optimization,
